Christmas Tree Countdown 3.0 is now available
For the first time, users can decorate the tree themselves, placing baubles, tinsel, lights and photo ornaments wherever they like.
UK, 2 November 2026: Independent developer Milo Hill today announced Christmas Tree Countdown 3.0, an app that lets users decorate a Christmas tree and count down to Christmas on Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. Available as a free download from the App Store, the app includes a tree, countdown and starter decorations.
“I got my first Mac, an eMac, for Christmas in the early 2000s, and I’ve been obsessed with Macs and Christmas ever since,” said Milo Hill. “I wanted to bring back the fun little utility apps of that era, and the excitement of Christmas, for a new generation of Mac and iPhone users.”
Users can choose from spruce, fir, snowy and modern trees, customise their colour, and decorate them with hand-drawn ornaments, tinsel and lights. Photo ornaments let users hang pictures from their photo library on the tree, alongside baubles and emoji.
On Mac, users can position the tree anywhere on the desktop and view the countdown in desktop widgets or the menu bar. On iPhone and iPad, the tree appears in the app, with countdown widgets available for the Home Screen and Lock Screen. Apple Watch complications display the days remaining on the watch face.
The app supports 14 languages, with countdown dates for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Sinterklaas, St Nicholas, Three Kings’ Day and Orthodox Christmas.
Christmas Tree Countdown is built natively for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, with support for iOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate. It supports VoiceOver, Dynamic Type and Reduce Motion, works offline and collects no data.
