Which day does it count down to?
By default, the day your region celebrates. You can choose 5 or 6 December, 24 or 25 December, or 6 or 7 January.
Is it free?
The tree and the countdown are free. A one-time purchase on the App Store unlocks decorating, widgets, the menu bar countdown and Apple Watch.
Is there a subscription?
No. One purchase covers Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, and includes Family Sharing.
Do the lights twinkle in the widget?
No. Widgets show a still picture of your tree. The lights animate in the app.
Can I send my tree to someone?
Not yet. Your tree stays on the device you made it on.
Does it need the internet?
No. The app has no network access, so nothing you make can leave your device.
What is the Mac download on this page?
The original free Mac tree, which has been around for years. The new app described on this page arrives on the App Store this winter.
